Lindsey's Family

Lindsey is the third of four children. Her older sister lives north of Salt Lake City with her husband and four kids. Lindsey's sister took excellent care of Peter while Lindsey was in the hospital. We do a lot with their family, and our kids' cousins are their best friends! Lindsey's older brother works as an attorney in Washington D.C. He and his wife are a favorite uncle/aunt pair, sending surprises in the mail and entertaining our kids over facetime. Our kids love to send them videos of them doing funny things, and they always send something back. They have a daughter just three weeks younger than Maren and George. Lindsey's younger brother works as an accountant, lives in Salt Lake City, and is married to his high school sweetheart! We feel completely spoiled that they live on our same block and are the destination of most of our pre-bedtime bike rides. Our kids adore them and their daughter born just six days before the twins. Lindsey's grandparents are actively involved in our kids' lives. They stop by every couple days, bringing us dinner, surprises, and spending time making Peter and Brooklyn smile. We love to see Peter and Brooklyn have such a special relationship with their great-grandparents.

Lindsey's parents have a cabin in the mountains where we enjoy four-wheeling, hiking, boating, reading, and relaxing. In the winter, we snowmobile, ski, and sled. We take frequent trips to Southern Utah to golf, hike the red rock, and rides bikes. Mostly, we all love to play with the kids and swap stories. It doesn't take much to get us all laughing and making jokes. We are grateful that our closest friends are right within our own family.

While Lindsey was in the hospital, we constantly had immediate and extended family by our side offering blessings, conversation, smoothies, something cheerful for her room, and sometimes just a hand to hold as she fell asleep. Some came up on their lunch breaks at work just to sit by her bed and show their love. Lindsey's aunts, uncles, and cousins love our kids so much, and we all love to get together often. Her relatives in California reached out while we were in the hospital with daily letters and packages. Peter and Brooklyn are both named for family members, including their great-grandparents in California (their great-grandma passed away shortly after Brooklyn was born. We gave Brooklyn the middle name "Rose" in her honor). Lindsey has relatives in Utah, California, Washington DC, and Oregon that are all supportive and involved in our kids' lives. We receive a lot of love and fun surprises in the mail, and we love to visit with them as often as we can.

Lindsey's mom and dad opened their home to us while Lindsey recovered. Her mom got up with Peter in the night and did all she could do to help during the day. Her dad stocked the fridge with all of our favorites and took care of dinner every night. When we began our adoption journey, they were supportive and by our side throughout the entire process. While living in Minnesota, we had a visit from one or both of them nearly every month! They have always made an effort to be actively involved in our lives, and we couldn't be more excited to bring children into such a warm and devoted family.
